As an independent charity, The Future Leaders Charitable Trust relies on essential monetary, in-kind and advisory support, enabling us to continue to tackle educational disadvantage. We commit to using contributions in the most efficient, effective way and direct support where it is needed most, helping us to reach more disadvantaged pupils in more challenging schools.
The 2011 GCSE results from the Department of Education show that only 33.9% of disadvantaged pupils achieved 5 A*-C grade GCSEs including English and maths, compared to the national average of 58.2%. Also, in 339 schools, with more than 10 disadvantaged pupils, fewer than 20% of those pupils achieved 5 A*-C grade GCSEs including English and maths.
Life chances should not be determined by background.
Evidence supports that effective, inspirational school leadership can stamp out educational disadvantage - school leaders improve teaching and learning indirectly and most powerfully through their influence on staff motivation, commitment and working conditions. School leadership is therefore one of the most determinative factor on pupil outcomes.
Your donation would have an enduring effect by supporting the creation of a network of talented and inspiring senior leaders and high performing schools, with the skills and experience to support pupils from deprived environments for many years to come.
There are now over 280 Future Leaders working in more than 200 challenging schools impacting on the life chances of at least 200,000 pupils in disadvantaged areas.
