Eligibility criteria - Schools
Does your school meet our criteria on Ever6FSM and KS2 / KS4 attainment?
We believe that the leadership and career experiences gained at state primary and secondary schools will offer our participants more opportunities for progression to headship. For this reason, we strongly recommend candidates complete their first year at a state primary or secondary school.
Is my school eligible for Future Leaders?
Your primary or secondary school is eligible if:
- Over 50% Ever6FSM students
- 25%-50% Ever6FSM students and the percentage of disadvantaged students achieving 5+ A*-C GCSEs (including English and maths) OR at Level 4 or above in English and maths at the end of Key Stage 2 is below the national average for all pupils
- 20%-25% Ever6FSM and the percentage of disadvantaged students achieving 5+ A*-C GCSEs (including English and maths) OR at Level 4 or above in English and maths at the end of Key Stage 2 is below the national average for disadvantaged pupils.
Your school may show as ineligible if it has been established recently and doesn't yet have results data, or if performance data for FSM6 pupils was unavailable. Additionally, if your school is not listed please contact us to find out if you are eligible.
Make a case for your school
We will give consideration on a case-by-case basis to schools where our criteria may not necessarily apply.
If you feel you are working in a challenging environment in which we could make an impact, or if you are actively supporting other schools which meet our criteria, you can make a case to work with us.
For more information about our eligibility criteria, please contact the Schools team.
Why does The Future Leaders Trust have schools eligibility criteria for the Future Leaders programme? We are committed to working with schools that support our mission to raise the achievement of children, regardless of background, and to provide them with equal choices and opportunities in life.
In pursuit of this mission, we have changed our eligibility criteria for Cohort 2013 onwards, to focus on schools that have higher challenge in terms of deprivation (measured by FSM6) and/or the achievement of underprivileged students.
My school meets the eligibility criteria but is in special measures. If my application is successful, could I still host a Future Leader? We are committed to working with the schools where we can have the most impact on closing the educational achievement gap.
Due to the additional challenges generally experienced by schools in special measures, such schools will be assessed for their capacity to host residency (first year) Future Leaders on a case-by-case basis. However, any eligible school in special measures can recruit a Future Leader in the post-residency phase.
If your school is in special measures and you would like to find out if you could host a residency Future Leader, please contact email@example.com
