If
you wish to join the Future Leaders programme, you should have Qualified
Teacher Status (QTS) and will preferably have teaching experience
in challenging urban schools. You may currently be a teacher in
a secondary school, or you may be a former teacher who has left
the school environment to work in another area of education or outside
of education altogether. You will be prepared to travel and work
in the Greater London and/or Greater Manchester area.
For some participants, the programme will open up a path to becoming
a senior school leader where you didn’t think it was possible
before. Other successful candidates may not have had much formal
leadership responsibility, but colleagues around you would have
already witnessed your ability to quietly lead and inspire others
to lead, whether it is recognised formally or not.
Participants
will possess:
A track record that aligns with the Future Leaders mission
and core beliefs, including evidence of an unshakeable drive to
improve education for all children irrespective of their background.
A track record of successful leadership – either
formal or informal – in which individuals you have worked
with have demonstrably improved their performance through your
personal coaching and advice.
An ability to improve pupil learning through your own
teaching, and to articulate clearly how to improve pupil performance
to others using your understanding of teaching and learning.
There are ten different competencies against which we assess
our candidates:
Mission, courage and conviction Resilience Interpersonal skills Drive for improvement
Developing self and others Holding self and others accountable Leading change through teams Accurate self assessment Strategic thinking Leading teaching and learning
