Please note that we evaluate and redefine our selection process each year. The information below pertains to 2008 entry and is therefore subject to change next year.
Application
deadlines
Future Leaders recruits on a rolling basis throughout the year,
so the sooner that you apply, the sooner that you will find out
if you have been made an offer to join the programme, and the greater
the chance that we will still have places remaining on the programme.
Our assessment centres are scheduled in four 'windows' in January, February, March and April. To be considered for a particular window you would need to apply at least one month before that window commences. If we have found enough suitable candidates to fill all of our spaces by April, we will not run the final window of assessments.
There are three stages to becoming a Future
Leader
Future Leaders is a demanding programme and not for the faint-hearted.
Our selection process is a journey that facilitates your own personal
discovery. It enables us to build a broad picture of each applicant’s
skills and preferences, and allows us both to decide whether you
are ready at this point in your career to become a Future Leader.
Stage 1: The application form
This short form is available on this website via the 'apply now' link to the right, and must be completed online. It asks
you to outline your contact details, and suitability for the Future Leaders programme via
two essay questions. We also collect equal opportunities data and information
that will help us to market the programme to others like you.

We will respond
to you on the outcome of your application within two weeks.
Stage 2: Online tests
We then ask you to complete three online tests. The first will be a case study based on a challenging urban school. The second will test your conceptual and critical thinking ability, and the third will be a tool to profile your organisational motivation.
We will also request your CV, complete with references.
You will be required to submit your CV and complete all 3 tests within a two week timeframe to be considered for the final selection stage.
We will respond to you on the outcome of your online tests within two
weeks.
Stage 3: The Assessment Centre
This is a half-day of activities and exercises with other candidates.
The activities will be challenging but fun, and will enable you
to discover more about yourself and your aspirations, and reflect
on how you respond to pressure and interact with others. Assessment
centres are run on weekday afternoons, Saturdays and during the school holidays.
We will respond to you on the outcome of your assessment centre
within two weeks.
Offer
After these exercises, we will be able to extend you an offer to join the programme that will be conditional upon our receiving satisfactory references for you. Once we have received your signed contract, we will be able to start matching you to suitable residency schools.
