The Future Leaders Programme

Eligibility Criteria

If you wish to join the Future Leaders programme, you must have the desire to lead a challenging secondary school.

You may currently be a teacher, or you may be a former teacher who has left the school environment to work in another area of education, or outside of education altogether.

To apply for Cohort 2012, starting in June 2012, you need to meet the following criteria:

  • Right to work in the UK
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Minimum of 2 years management experience within the past 5 years and evidence of having made substantial positive impact on a school/organisation
  • Teaching and learning experience in English schools within the last 5 years
  • Never having held a deputy headship or headship post in a maintained secondary school or Academy
  • Not currently pursuing or having completed the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH)
  • Outstanding (1) or Good (2) rating in the most recent teaching observation (if currently teaching) and confidence that the same rating will be achieved in a new lesson observation, whether currently teaching or not
  • Having read and agreed to the Future Leaders terms and conditions including the salary cap, payback scheme and residency placement location
  • Desire to be headteacher of a challenging secondary school within 5 years

You will also need to be available for all the following training dates in 2012:

  • Saturday 9th June 2012
  • Friday 22nd June – Sunday 24th June 2012
  • Friday 6th July – Sunday 8th July 2012
  • Monday 6th August – Friday 10th August 2012
  • Monday 13th August – Friday 17th August 2012
